Check whether your phone works with an HD Telecom SIM or eSIM
Last updated:
Before you order, take a minute to check two things: whether your phone supports eSIM (if you plan to use one), and whether it is unlocked (SIM-free). A phone that is still carrier-locked will not accept a SIM or eSIM from another carrier.
Step 1 – Does your phone support eSIM?
Quickest way: open the Phone app and dial *#06#. If you see an EID line on the screen, your phone supports eSIM.Screen showing the EID line after dialing the code on the phone keypadImage coming soon
iPhone: go to Settings → General → About and scroll down to find EID.iPhone Settings → General → About screen, showing the EIDImage coming soon
Android: go to Settings → Network & internet / Connections → SIM and look for an Add eSIM option. Menu names vary by manufacturer.
If there is no EID and no option to add an eSIM, your phone cannot use eSIM. You can still choose a physical SIM or pocket WiFi instead.
Step 2 – Is your phone unlocked (SIM-free)?
iPhone: go to Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock. If it says "No SIM restrictions", you are good to go.Carrier Lock on iPhone showing "No SIM restrictions"Image coming soon
Phones bought in Japan from October 2021 onward are usually already unlocked. Phones bought before then may need to be unlocked by the original carrier.
Phones brought from Vietnam or another country: ask the shop you bought it from, or try inserting a SIM from a different carrier.
Popular phones that support eSIM
iPhone XS, XS Max, XR and later; iPhone SE (2nd generation) and later.
Google Pixel: most recent models.
Samsung Galaxy, OPPO, Xiaomi and others: depends on the model and the market it was sold in.
The same model sold in some markets (mainland China, for example) may not have eSIM. The surest way to know is to check for the EID line as in Step 1.
